This is a trade qualification for carpenters in residential and commercial workplaces. It includes setting out, manufacturing, constructing, assembling, installing and repairing products made using timber and non-timber materials.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

Completing this course may provide you with employment or learning opportunities. Potential employment options are in the carpentry sector in the roles such as carpenter, builder or foreman in residential or commercial construction. Further education pathways may include the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).
You are required to bring your own laptop with Office 365 (or similar program) to all classes.
You are responsible for providing your own uniform and sturdy work shoes. Details of suppliers will be provided to you at your orientation.

Australian Sovereign College delivers the complete qualification CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry however, all students wanting to carry out work on construction site will need to complete the unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. This unit is often referred to as a white card. This is totally a separate unit which is addition to the qualification CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry and need to be completed externally. As specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007), this unit needs to be completed before entering construction site. Therefore, student need to complete this unit from an approved provider by WorkSafe Victoria and accredited by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA).
Student need to contact admin department of Australian Sovereign College to get more information about approved providers. There will be an extra cost of approximately $149 AUD to complete this unit from an approved provider.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting, as well as structured-self-study and through workplace-based training.
During the first term students will participate in both classroom based and structured self-study training and assessment and commercial site / simulated workshop training and assessment which will cover the pre-requisite units for most of the units in the qualification. Students will commence this qualification by completing the unit CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry which is a pre-requisite for many other units (indicated with *).
